Pillbox - Antique silver .835 Rococo box, certified - .835 silver

This is a small rectangular silver box (snuff-box/jewellery-box size) with a convex, pillow-shaped lid and richly chased (chased/repoussé) Rococo-style decoration: symmetrical C-scrolls, acanthus leaf motifs and a shoulder edge, with crossed “arceer” panels on the corners — a typical Louis XV/Rococo revival ornament that was widely applied in the Netherlands to silverware between circa 1880 and 1930, often produced in the silver centre of Schoonhoven.
On the underside there are four clear hallmarks side by side, indicating Dutch silver of 835 second quality.
