Jardinière - Gold leaf - gold-gilded ceramics

An exceptionally elegant and rare antique cachepot (flower pot/jardinère) made of heavy glazed ceramic, produced around the early 20th century. The pot has a deep dark green background, adorned with a refined diagonal spiral relief (canons/ribs). The front is beautifully decorated with stylized Calla lilies (Arums) and delicate blue forget-me-nots. What gives this pot extra allure is the lavish use of gold leaf for the leaves and the flora-inspired stylized details, typical of the finer Jugendstil pieces from this period. The pot stands on three sturdy, gracefully formed gold feet and features a wavy, scalloped edge with a fine gold trim. On the underside the object is marked with the decor number or model number 1909 and a factory mark (•/•).
