Description from the seller

Important French Art Deco clock with two cassolettes
– Antelopes
– Onyx / green and cream marble
– 1930
Description:
Very beautiful French Art Deco fireplace garniture, consisting of a substantial fireplace clock adorned with an impressive sculpture representing two stylized antelopes, with the elegant and dynamic lines characteristic of animal sculpture in Art Deco.
The sculpture features a patinated black finish, accompanied by two matching cassolettes.
Condition and restoration:
The set is presented in an aged state with normal signs of use and aging.
It is important to note that one of the two cassolettes has undergone an old restoration.
Some stone slabs have been reassembled and recjoined. Four small mounting screws are currently missing.
Despite this restoration, the slabs are presently held together and the cassolette retains its structure as well as its decorative appearance.
There are traces of restoration, old repairs, small cracks, marks, stains, and irregularities visible on some stone slabs.
The clock also shows signs of age and use, particularly on the dial and metal parts.
These defects are visible in the photographs.
The stone has been cleaned carefully, without attempting to completely erase the traces and patina related to age.
The whole presents a remarkable geometric composition typical of Art Deco, created in a decorative combination of veined cream stone/onyx and green onyx, with patinated metal elements.
The animal is depicted in motion, with an elongated body, splayed legs, and two long ivory-colored horns.
The sculpture features a patinated black finish and seems to be made of patinated cast metal, probably régule/spelter. The horns are ivory/cream colored.
The clock base is particularly decorative, composed of several geometric stone/onyx elements in white, cream, beige, and green shades, with beautiful natural veining. The stepped construction and geometric lines reinforce its Art Deco character.
The dial, of geometric and trapezoidal shape with black stylized numerals and markers, features black stylized numerals/markers and a metal rim. It is completed by Art Deco-styled hands.
At the back lies a manually wound mechanical movement with a bell-striking mechanism. The movement and its brass bell are visible in the photographs. A numerical marking is present on the movement; it chimes once every half hour and chimes several times on the hour.
The two matching cassolettes echo the same geometric architecture and materials as the clock. They harmoniously complement the garniture and, with it, form a particularly decorative ensemble.
