Description from the seller
Elegant antique wall mirror made of turned and carved wood imitating bamboo canes, following the characteristic Faux Bamboo style that gained great popularity in European interiors during the second half of the 19th century.
The frame features an attractive architectural construction, formed by four main elements that cross and extend at their ends, carefully turned to reproduce the knots and natural profiles of bamboo. The wood retains a warm brown tone and a pleasant patina acquired with the passage of time.
The glass pane shows marks, small stains and signs of aging on the reflective surface, clearly visible in the photographs and in keeping with the antique character of the piece. The frame likewise shows small signs of age and wear, without diminishing its decorative presence. It retains its back and hanging ring.
A piece of marked decorative character, representative of the European taste for bamboo, Japonism and the oriental influences that characterized numerous interiors of the late 19th century.
