AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

An iconic mid-century modern "umbrella" or "Sputnik" style retractable wall coat rack, designed and produced by the French company Serjac.
France, 1950s-1960s

It features a unique, space-saving telescopic sliding mechanism. When you push the bottom handle up along the central axis, the five chrome-plated steel arms fan outwards like an upside-down umbrella to hold coats, hats, or towels. When it is not in use, you can pull it back down to collapse flat against the wall.

Produced during the 1950s and 1960s Space Age era, its atomic look is defined by five distinct round plastic serving as the garment hooks. While many came with multicolored balls, this specific version features elegant, matching deep burgundy-brown tones.

The name "SERJAC" is clearly stamped on the metal base piece at the bottom.
Stamped under the brand name is "Bte SGDG", short for "Breveté Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement" (Patented Without Government Guarantee).

Height = 27.5 cm (closed)
Width = 40 cm (open)
Depth = 23 cm (open)
Weight = 4100 g
