Antique bar brooch in 835 silver dating to the Art Nouveau/Jugendstil period of the 1910s–1930s, weight 6.28 g, dimensions 51 × 17 mm, with a central collet-set ruby-red synthetic spinel (or red crystal) and pierced foliate scrollwork, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
An exquisite example of early 20th-century European silversmith artistry, this antique/vintage bar brooch is forged in solid 835 silver with rich, natural contrast patina. The horizontal openwork frame features graceful Jugendstil / Art Nouveau lines accented by pierced foliate scrollwork, delicate silver bead finials, and blooming forget-me-not blossoms flanking the center. Collet-set at the heart is an oval faceted ruby-red synthetic spinel (or faceted red crystal) radiating vivid magenta fire. Secured at the reverse by an elongated pin stem and trombone/sliding safety catch, the back of the rim is stamped with the authentic 835 silver purity hallmark.
