Description from the seller

French Saint-Clément attractive zoömorphic jar modeled in the shape of a duck and made in polychrome glazed earthenware, corresponding to model 7432.
Of generous dimensions, about 33 cm high, the piece has a remarkable decorative presence. The body of the bird is relief-worked, reproducing in detail the plumage, wings, legs and head. A stylized vegetal element integrates into the composition forming the handle.
Its especially striking feature is its rich decoration of bright enamels, with an intense combination of cobalt blue, green, turquoise, ochre, cream and toasted tones, including a small circular detail of light enamel on the head. The different tones beautifully emphasize the modeling and the reliefs of the plumage.
The opening is discreetly integrated into the bird’s back, while the beak, open, functions as a spout, maintaining the piece’s attractive sculptural character.
On the base, the reference 7432 is preserved in relief, corresponding to the model and documented in other examples of this Saint-Clément jar.
It remains in excellent vintage condition, with the glossy glaze and the colors and reliefs very well preserved. The base shows only the usual signs of support and age visible in the photographs.
An attractive piece of 20th-century French decorative ceramics, especially interesting for its zoomorphic form, its dimensions and the vividness of its enamels.
