Elegant and impressive French Napoléon III-era double desk inkstand, made around 1875-1885 in the Louis XVI and Neoclassical taste.
The piece rests on a beautiful base of dark green veined marble, rich with white veining ( Alpine green ), whose ends are fitted with pen rests.
The two inkwells are made of richly gilded metal adorned with vegetal and floral motifs. The domed lids are topped with small decorative ornaments and feature especially intricate decoration. The two white inner reservoirs are present.
The combination of the heavily veined marble and the rich gilded decoration gives this object a particularly elegant decorative character, typical of high-quality writing office objects produced in France during the Napoléon III period.
