Round powder box, made in solid 800 silver, dating to the late nineteenth century. This piece exemplifies the exquisite craftsmanship of the period, with rich all-around decoration.
The hinged lid is the real centerpiece, adorned with a profusion of intricate foliate scrolls, stylized flowers, and cartouche motifs framing a central basket overflowing with flowers and fruit. This decoration is executed with high-relief repoussé and chasing techniques, creating a deep, tactile texture with a dynamic play of light and shadow. The details are sharp and well defined, testimony to the silversmith's skill. A delicate lattice incision on a central band adds a touch of geometric elegance.
The lid edge and the body of the box are decorated with a continuous floral and foliate garland motif, echoing the central theme and framing the entire piece.
