The Ricoh Auto Half is one of the most distinctive cameras of the 1960s and 70s: a palm-sized half-frame camera with a spring-driven motor that winds the film automatically, so the photographer only has to point and press. The selenium cell around the lens sets exposure with no battery, and the fixed-focus 25mm f/2.8 lens gives 72 pictures on a standard 36-exposure roll. The Auto Half SE2 of 1976 is a late version with a self-timer and a hot shoe, sold in a range of decorative front finishes. Charming, pocketable and utterly simple, it has become a favourite of film photographers who like to shoot a lot of frames.

Finder: Cleaned internally — clear
Lens / Sensor: Clear — no haze, fungus or scratches.

Functional
The camera operates properly — the spring motor winds and advances the film, the shutter fires and the selenium meter responds. Automatic exposure reacts to changing light.
The meter reads bright against our reference: about +1.2 EV at EV12 and +3.1 EV at EV15.
The viewfinder has been cleaned internally and the light seals replaced.
No battery is required.

Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 1.2 OVER / EV15: 3.1 OVER
Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself.

Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Light seals (foam) replaced
- Viewfinder cleaned internally

Known Issues
1. The selenium meter reads bright, particularly in strong light (about +3 EV at EV15) — automatic exposures will run generous. Negative film tolerates this; for critical work use the manual settings.
2. Cosmetic scuffs and marks from normal use (see photos).

We ship via either FedEx or Japan Post (ePacket), whichever suits the destination and the parcel. With Japan Post your package is handed over to the local postal carrier in your country for final delivery.
