1934 - Rare Extraordinary Air Airmail from the « Parfums Chanel » (Neuilly) to Rangoon, Burma – Air France Vignette
Exceptionally rare original commercial letter sent on August 19, 1934 by the famous house Les Parfums Chanel S.A. (then located at 135, Avenue de Neuilly in Neuilly-sur-Seine).
This fold testifies to the international influence of haute French perfumery in the 1930s and to the history of airmail.
Sender: Les Parfums Chanel S.A., Neuilly-sur-Seine.
Recipient: The National Bank of India, Rangoon, Burma (British India / Far East).
Postage & Cancellations: French stamps cancelled by the Neuilly-sur-Seine date stamp of 19.08.1934.
Notable markings:
Blue rectangular “PAR AVION” transport vignette.
Routing stamp and typographic note “Via Air France - South America / Far East”.
On the back: Stunning and rare round Air France closing vignette (depicting the winged hippocampus) accompanying the envelope flap, as well as the transit mark.
