Description from the seller
Artisan Mason's Mallet with Secret Box
A handcrafted artisanal Masonic set comprising a richly engraved wooden mallet, accompanied by a small wooden secret box, itself decorated with numerous Masonic symbols.
The mallet bears on one face of the handle an inscription in Masonic script: “To the Glory of the Great Architect of the Universe,” while the opposite face is adorned with a depiction of a tasselled rope element, a traditional component of Masonic symbolism.
The mallet is accompanied by a small artisanal secret box, made from the same wood and in the same decorative spirit.
The box features a peculiar opening mechanism: it opens only on one side, by tipping one of its sides, which constitutes an original characteristic of this piece.
Box dimensions:
Height: 1.5 cm
Width: 8 cm
Length: 13 cm
The box decoration is particularly rich.
On one face there is a Masonic checkered pattern, with at its upper left section a horse head and the letters “J.L.”. These initials may correspond to the name or initials of the craftsman who created the set, though this cannot be stated with certainty.
On the other face appears a triangle containing symbols associated with the Worshipful Master, the Senior Warden, and the Junior Warden. The whole is surrounded by acacia branches, reinforcing the symbolic and Masonic dimension of the piece.
Thus the mallet and the box present a coherent artisanal work, with engravings done in the same spirit.
Characteristics
- Set: Masonic mallet and secret box
- Material: wood
- Craft: artisanal
- Mallet: engraving in Masonic script and tasselled rope
- Box: secret box with opening by tilting one side
- Box dimensions: 13 × 8 × 1.5 cm

- Initials: “J.L.”
- Era: to be determined
Conclusion
An especially original artisanal Masonic set, pairing a engraved mallet with a small secret box featuring a distinctive opening mechanism.
The richness of the engravings, the presence of Masonic symbols, the acacia branches, and the initials “J.L.” give this set a personal and relatively uncommon character.
A piece that may interest collectors of Masonic objects, symbolic crafts, and ritual or decorative items.
I would absolutely keep the term “secret box” in the title, as the distinctive opening mechanism is a feature that sets your object apart from a simple storage box.
