Description from the seller

Weitzmann. - Arena of H. Weitzmann from Berlin, first booth at the Parade Platz. - For the first time: Studio of living pictures presented by 20 people, ladies and gentlemen. Earlier: Production of the Higher Gymnastics, Frankfurt, J. G. Müller, September 12 (1857). One-page print with a large woodcut (35 x 42 cm) and typographic text. Sheet size: 75.5 x 42 cm.
Heinrich Weitzmann (1811-1893) began his career as a tightrope walker in his father’s circus company. With his own circus troupe he was not permanently successful, so that in old age he had to work as a music teacher and piano tuner. - The woodcut shows one of the depicted “living pictures.” - The left edge above and below the woodcut is cut back to about 4 cm, with the removal of the “L” in “Lebender.”
