Antique Louis Philippe‑style serpentine buik sideboard dating to 1880, with an oak body and burl mahogany veneer, brown finish, 98 cm high, 118 cm wide, 50 cm deep, 2 doors and 1 sliding drawer lined with green felt, massived turned columns and ball feet, condition good with signs of age and a central crack.
Description from the seller
Here for sale is a characterful antique serpentine chest of drawers / sideboard / dresser - Louis Philippe style, 1880. A Biedermeier with a belly form (and serpentine front).
The cabinet is made of burr walnut mahogany veneer with a beautiful grain on an oak carcass.
At the bottom there are solid turned columns and ball feet.
The cabinet has one large pull-out drawer.
The bottom of the drawer is lined with green felt.
The original brass keyplate is still on the cabinet; I still need to search for the key.
The cabinet has two doors and a shelf.
The veneer is truly beautiful but unfortunately there is a crack from drying in the middle. In my view that only makes the cabinet more beautiful.
If you intend to use this as a commode, you can cover the crack with a cushion.
The middle shelf is a bit sagged, truly authentic.
Whether you want to paint this cabinet white, green, or plum purple.
