Description from the seller

Marionette (Puppet Master) - Original page by Senno Knife

First published in Suspiria (named after the 1977 Dario Argento classic): Gakuen Mystery No. 30
Collected in Shōjo Pandora (Akita Shoten, 1995)

Media : pencil, ink & zip-a-tone on paper
Condition : Very good condition

Senno Knife (千之ナイフ, born 1960) is a Japanese mangaka celebrated for his distinctive mix of horror, eroticism, and surreal fantasy. He founded a Leiji Matsumoto fan club and, shortly afterwards, was invited to help with Matsumoto's manuscripts thus he began his career assisting Leiji Matsumoto (and Miyako Maki)

Originally active in the doujinshi scene under the name Yamamoto Kazuto, he later adopted the alias “Senno Knife” (“A Thousand Knives”). Influenced by Paul Delvaux, Francis Bacon, Tim Burton, and Clive Barker, his work combines shōjo-style aesthetics with shōnen-inspired storytelling.

His richly detailed art explores sex, death, demons, dolls, TSF (transgender fiction), and yuri, balancing horror with humor and parody, and establishing him as one of Japan’s most distinctive cult creators.

While our new gallery will not be open before October, we've been unboxing and rediscovering items along the way. This auction brings together a carefully curated selection of manga and anime art, featuring gallery finds, almost forgotten pieces, and works rediscovered during the unpacking, now offered to collectors via Catawiki.

Explore all our items and combine purchases to save on shipping, or collect your winnings at our new location in Ghent (Belgium) — open by appointment only.

Seller's Story

Sultans of Manga is devoted to original art by Japanese mangaka, with a particular soft spot for the Shōwa era, that stretch of manga history that's basically the Golden, Silver, and Bronze Age of comics all rolled into one. Our collection ranges from the giants of manga to the most obscure underground names, and yes, we're just as happy to track down something more recent when it's got the right spirit. We don't chase trends. We chase the manga art that's rare, overlooked, or simply what we like, and we love the full spectrum of what manga can be! Whether you're a lifelong manga collector or a curious newcomer just starting to look, feel free to reach out. We're always happy to offer tailored suggestions or a bit of friendly advice.
