Commemorative 5 Leva coin minted in 1978 by the People's Republic of Bulgaria to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Peio K. Yavorov, one of the most prominent figures of modern Bulgarian literature. The obverse presents a portrait with strong expressive force of the poet and playwright, rendered with realistic and meticulous modeling that highlights his facial features and his characteristic introspective gaze. The composition is complemented by his name and the birth and death dates. The reverse shows the state coat of arms of the People's Republic of Bulgaria, with the heraldic lion surrounded by ears of grain and crowned by a star, accompanied by the denomination 5 Leva and the issue date. The surfaces display an extraordinary proof finish, with deeply mirrored fields creating an intense contrast with the frosted reliefs, delivering high visual quality.
