Very large Paleolithic protobiface (about 197 × 125 mm) made of flint from the Western Sahara Seguiet el Hamra, dating to about 800,000 BP, from the Acheulean culture, in excellent condition with no restorations.

Very large (almost 20 cm) protobiface with a reserved base from the early Acheulean, a typical tool of H. Erectus that lived there. These tools are regarded as transitional pieces between the earlier choppers/chopping tools and the fully flaked hand axes. Characteristic is the retention of a large portion of the cortex and, with minimal flake removals, still aiming for a pointed form. These protobifaces are not common in large assemblages.
