Fossilised Psittacosaurus lujiatunensis skull from the Lujiatun Beds of the Yixian Formation in Liaoning, China, dating to the Early Cretaceous about 125 million years ago; conserved specimen in natural condition; one object; 100% original.
Description from the seller
An impressive and very nicely presented fossil skull of Psittacosaurus lujiatunensis, an early ceratopsian dinosaur from the famous Lujiatun Beds of the Yixian Formation in Liaoning, China.
Psittacosaurus was a small, herbivorous ceratopsian dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous, about 125 million years ago. Although this species is an early relative of later beaked dinosaurs such as Triceratops, Psittacosaurus was considerably smaller and possessed a characteristic parrot-like snout.
The specimen features an impressive, three-dimensionally preserved skull with clearly recognizable anatomical features, including the distinctive snout, the orbital region, and the jaw structure. The fossil retains a large part of its original anatomical form and thus constitutes a particularly attractive object for a serious dinosaur collection.
