Silver 15 Kopeks coin minted at the Saint Petersburg Mint during the reign of Tsar Nicholas II, in the first year of Russia’s participation in World War I. The obverse features the crowned double-headed imperial eagle, holding a scepter and orb, bearing the grandImperial shield and the territorial shields on the wings, a heraldic composition of notable richness and artistic balance. The reverse displays the denomination and date beneath the imperial crown, surrounded by an elegant open crown of laurel and oak branches tied by a ribbon at the bottom, following the characteristic design of the era’s Russian divisionary coinage. This specimen retains an attractive original luster with soft silver tones, well-defined reliefs and homogeneous fields, showing light contact marks in line with the MS62 grade awarded by NGC. It is a representative issue of the last silver strikes produced in Saint Petersburg before the profound political and monetary transformations that led to the end of the Russian Empire in 1917.
