AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

This impressive Otodus megalodon from Sukabumi, Indonesia, is a specimen with a story that makes it particularly interesting to the collector. Unlike the majority of Megalodon teeth from Sukabumi, which are retrieved from the ground during excavation, this concerns a natural river find. The tooth has thus developed its own characteristic appearance through prolonged exposure to the natural river environment.

The crown has a powerful, broad shape and a splendid natural play of colors of golden-brown, olive-green, and dark tones. Across the enamel run countless fine growth lines, while the different mineralizations create subtle color differences and depth. Especially under various lighting the pattern in the enamel comes forward beautifully. The combination with the very dark brown root gives the tooth a very warm and authentic look.

The root is notably stout and well-preserved, forming together with the broad crown a very solid whole. The fine serrations along the cutting edges are also nicely present and enhance the sharp, characteristic appearance of this ancient predator.

The specimen is completely natural and unrestored. There are no reconstructed parts or cosmetic restorations applied. The existing discolorations, mineralization, growth lines and natural surface features are all part of the fossil itself.

A particularly handsome Sukabumi Megalodon for the collector who not only looks at size, but rather values provenance, natural preservation and character. The special river origin in combination with the strong form, beautiful earthy colors and excellent natural condition make this a very attractive Indonesian specimen.
