Impressive and highly decorative vintage fish dinner service by Saint-Clément, made in France.
The service is executed in glazed faience in attractive cream, beige and warm brown tones, with each piece moulded in relief to represent a fish. Particularly striking is the large three-dimensional fish-shaped covered tureen / serving dish, which forms the centrepiece of the service.
The individual plates and dishes feature detailed scales, fins, eyes and textured borders, creating a wonderfully characteristic French mid-century table setting, particularly suitable for serving fish and seafood.
The underside bears the handwritten/manufacturer’s mark “St. Clément France.”
The service comprises a substantial collection of 9 dinner plates, D 25 cm. smaller plates/dishes 21 cm. and the large sculptural serving piece. D18x 38 cm. In excellent condition.
