The Sony MDS-E55 is a professional, rack-mountable MiniDisc recorder and player that was introduced in the late 1990s for studio use and broadcast environments.
Unlike consumer models from that era, this unit is designed for intensive use and equipped with features specifically intended for audio engineers and installations.

Equipped with Sony's Wide Bit Stream (20-bit) technology and an integrated sampling rate converter.
Connectors:
In addition to the standard analog phono (RCA) and digital optical/coaxial connections, it features a parallel interface for external remote controls and a Control-S connection.
