A wooden Baroque column from Central Italy (Italy), dating to the 1950s, carved and gilded with a twisted shaft and a Corinthian-capital, standing on a square moulded base and measuring about 103 cm high by 23 cm wide and 23 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Golden twisted column with Corinthian capital, Central Italy, Baroque style
Decorative piece in carved and gilded wood, characterized by a spiraled shaft and an elaborated Corinthian-inspired capital with volutes, acanthus leaves and hand-carved details.
The surface features a particularly attractive mat patination, with traces of red bole polychromy and gilding worn by time that emphasize its dramatic and authentic character.
The column rests on a square molded base and is intended as an ornamental element: perfect as a pedestal for a sculpture, a significant vase, or simply as an architectural presence inside a contemporary environment.
Imperfections, abrasions and wear of the finish are consistent with its age and contribute to the object's charm.
