Special features
Charging of the internal LIP-12 battery can be done in the recorder; external batteries in the external battery holder cannot be charged via the recorder, that would require a separate battery charger.

The MZ-R30 is a fine example of Sony's early portable MiniDisc recorders. Thanks to the digital optical input, recording function, synchronous recording, track editing, titling and the compact housing this was at the time a very versatile alternative to portable cassette- and DAT recorders.
