STORIA / PANORAMICA
The Volkswagen Golf III represents the third generation of the famous German compact car, produced by Volkswagen from 1991 to 1999. In 1993 the new Cabriolet version was introduced, developed in collaboration with Karmann, reviving the tradition of the open-top Golf after the long production of the Cabriolet based on the first generation, available from 1979 and not continued on the second generation.
The Golf III Cabriolet retained the distinctive features of the Golf, adding the possibility of open-top driving and a more elegant and refined configuration.
The example offered at auction was delivered new in Italy and has covered only 79,000 km and has had a single owner. It presents with original interiors and preserves the factory engine and factory colors, factory paint and every original detail. The soft top is functioning properly. Stored indoors, an exemplar in excellent condition.
EXTERIOR
The car presents in the factory original Metallic Gray color. The bodywork retains the original factory paint and is in beautiful overall condition, with minimal and small signs of use compatible with the vehicle’s age.
A check with a micrometer showed no evidence of collisions or bodywork. A Carfax certificate confirms the mileage and that the car has never had accidents.
The underbody is well preserved and in nice original condition, consistent with the vehicle’s history and age.
The soft top is functional and presents in factory original condition.
INTERIOR
The interiors are in beautiful overall condition and retain the original configuration. The dashboard is well preserved and free of cracks and all original details. The soft top opens and closes smoothly, keeps water out and is fully usable.
MECHANICS
Mechanically the car retains the original factory engine, which is functioning. Also the gearbox, clutch and brakes operate correctly, in conditions compatible with the car’s mileage. A new battery has just been installed. The latest technical check, just passed in September 2026 with no faults found, is valid until September 2028, confirming the car’s suitability for road use. However, given the minimal usage in recent years, a service and general check before normal use is recommended.
The Volkswagen Golf III Cabriolet today represents an interesting choice for those who want a German youngtimer that is pleasant and drivable, with a particularly cared-for configuration. The mere 79,000 km, original delivery in Italy, first factory paint and original engine contribute to making this example an interesting testimony of the Golf Cabriolet of the Nineties, ready to be rediscovered and used on the road.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
