Large vintage saucer pendant lamp – green textured glass with abstract decor – Mid-Century style

A particularly atmospheric vintage hanging lamp with a large, flatly curved glass shade in a green-tinted finish. The glass has a pronounced relief texture and is adorned with dark, almost graphic accents that run across the surface like abstract brushstrokes. When the lamp is lit, this texture becomes even more pronounced and a warm, diffused green glow emerges.

The design clearly fits within the large decorative dish lamps that were especially popular in the 1950s–1970s. Comparable Mid-Century pendant lamps from this period combine a large glass shade with a slender metal or brass-colored suspension and a central light source. Italian lighting from the 1960s also frequently combines green glass and brass details.

In this piece, the shade is carried by a long gold/brass-colored stem, with a black conical ceiling cap at the top. The combination of the ultra-flat shade, the green smooth textured glass, and the dark abstract areas gives the lamp a pronounced sixties character without appearing heavy.

What makes this lamp especially distinctive is the glass. The surface has a smooth yet ice-crystal-like texture, while the dark gray-black and green areas read differently from each angle. As soon as the light source is switched on, the shade shifts from a cool green tone to a warm, softly lit art object.

Comparable vintage dish lamps are internationally called saucer pendant, glass plate pendant, or Mid-Century ceiling light. With such lamps, the large glass shade is not only a light diffuser but also the main decorative element.
