Agfa Robi / Filma Box / Daci Royal | Analogue camera

AGFA ROBI
The ROBY (later ROBI) was a box-type device with a metal shell covered in black faux-leather cardboard for 6x9 cm format on 120 film.
The name derives from the son of Antonio Bencini, Roberto; in this model the influence of the previous industrial experiences gained at Fiamma and Film is evident.
The final Y in the name was not liked by the fascist authorities involved in a campaign against foreign words, and for this reason the name was later Italianized to ROBI.
This device was one of the first produced by the new Milanese company of Antonio Bencini starting around 1937–38;
production continued until the start of World War II and it cannot be excluded that even during the war a certain number of units saw the light.
Production of this camera resumed in the very early postwar years; throughout this period it underwent some small modifications that concerned only the aesthetic aspect without ever changing the technical characteristics and performance.
The parts that underwent modifications were particularly the mask with writings placed around the lens and the small knob to rotate to advance the film.
From a collector’s standpoint this camera is fairly common in both denominations and of modest monetary value; however I believe this object should not be missing from a collection of Made in Italy photographic equipment for the historical value it represents.

Conditions: Shows evident signs of age and use, the shutter moves, the levers are present, but it is not tested. The body shows several spots with rust bloom, the edges and corners of the front part show patches of black paint loss, even the front mask with the inscriptions shows wear; optical values still read as “1:11- 7,5”.

DACI ROYAL
Box camera. Daci and Real Daci. Germany
Daci & Daci Royal Metal Box camera for 120 film with 6x6 cm exposure, objective is a meniscus lens. The Royal is equipped with focusing and is available in red, gray, black and green. Both produced by Dacora in Germany between about 1950 and 1952.
The Daci is a mid-format box camera produced by Dacora and introduced in 1951. It used 120 roll film, producing 12 images of 6x6 cm.
It features a small integrated reflex viewfinder. The rotating shutter allows switching from instant mode to B exposure mode via a side lever. It has an f/9 aperture and focusing can be performed up to 1.5 m by rotating the lens mount.
Film is loaded by turning a knob on the camera’s right side, which unlocks the back. The base of the camera has a single tripod mount.
