The masks from Tanzania and Mozambique constitute a minority on the African art market. They have been relatively rarely collected and, above all, little studied.
A fine specimen, very well preserved here.
It comes from the Makonde ethnic group. There is a fairly archaic approach in the formalism and some additional elements.
