Description from the seller

Secretary desk with the original burnt-in brand.

Materials and Build Quality
Flamemahogany Sheet (Flamed Mahogany): The front of the cabinet and the drop-front present a superb cabinetmaking job, selecting the mahogany grain in a symmetrical, clean, highly eye-catching pattern.

Structure: Exceptionally solid, heavy, completely sound and free of wax moth.

Desk: Keeps its original leather top (badana) with a perimeter gilded relief motif stamped in gold. Shows cracking and natural wear of its years, but is completely firm, nourished, and without splits.

Original Period Hardware: Key escutcheons, book-style hinges, and original loop handles in polished brass from the period.

High-End Technical Details. Interior in "Amphitheatre": When the lid is opened, a spectacular office is revealed, arranged in a complex concave curve (amphitheatre), a display of technique that was only executed on the most expensive desks of the workshop. It features small curved drawers and intact organizer compartments.

Milano Tails Hand-Cut: The drawers show fine asymmetrical joints hand-cut by the cabinetmaker, absolute guarantee of preindustrial craftsmanship.

Key and Original Locks: Supplied with its original functional key, which smoothly operates the brass embedded locks.

Original Back Panel: Original period back panel attached to the frame with animal glue (bone) adhesive, clear and dark. No patches, no modern nails, and no synthetic adhesives.

Condition: The piece is in extraordinarily good condition for its age. No structural carpentry restoration is required. It shows light signs of use and a patina on the top surface appropriate to its age, which do not diminish the piece’s beauty in the slightest. A purely conservative service has been performed: gentle cleaning, nourishment of the exterior mahogany, and deep hydration of the interior leather. Ready to display in an office, design living room, or library.

Measurements and Delivery Conditions:

Measurements: 90x140x38
Collection: Local pickup in Barcelona / Catalonia is strongly recommended and prioritized, at the buyer’s expense, due to the piece’s weight and delicacy. The furniture is on the ground floor to facilitate loading.

Shipping: If shipment is required, the management, contracting, and costs of a specialized art or moving agency will be borne exclusively by the buyer.
