An antique English lens named the “Coddington lens” after its inventor.
Both for its small size and its precision, it was appreciated and used as a portable microscope by botanists in the fields and in gardens.
The Coddington lens consists of a single glass cylinder with ground convex surfaces at both ends, mounted in a brass frame.
The instrument for sale is of excellent workmanship and quality, made around the middle of the 19th century.
It has an elegant bone handle, uncommon among these lens models.
It is in good condition; the optics are clear and free of scratches.
Dimensions: length 11 cm, lens diameter 20 mm.

Antica lente inglese denominata “lente Coddington” dal nome del suo inventore. 
Sia per le sue ridotte dimensioni che per la sua precisione era apprezzata ed utilizzata come microscopio portatile dai botanici nei campi e nei giardini. La lente Coddington è costituita da un unico cilindro di vetro con superfici convesse molate su entrambe le estremità, montato in un telaio di ottone.

Lo strumento in vendita è di ottima fattura e qualità, realizzato circa a metà del XIX. 
Ha una elegante impugnatura in osso, non comune fra questi modelli di lente.  

E’ in buone condizioni, l’ottica è chiara, priva di graffi.
