Antique Roberval scale from the late 19th century (c. 1850–1900), cast iron with a black enamel finish and two brass weighing pans, by Gilles Personne de Roberval, 51 cm wide, 20 cm deep, 23.5 cm high, weighing 4622 g, with a maximum capacity of 5 kg, in good used condition and in working order.

Beautiful antique Roberval balance scale from the late 19th century.
The name comes from the French mathematician Gilles Personne de Roberval, who invented the mechanism in 1669.
This type of scale was widely used in the aforementioned period in French (grocery) shops.
The text "Force 5 Kilog" on the scale indicates that the maximum weighing capacity is 5 kilograms.
The scale is made of cast iron with a black enamel coating. The two pans are made of brass.
It can of course be used as a scale, but it is also beautiful as a decorative object.
