Description from the seller
Alfa Romeo AR8 4x4 Sirecome – 1983 | 5000 original kilometers
We propose for sale a very rare Alfa Romeo AR8 4x4 from 1983, with only 5000 original kilometers certified. The odometer has been changed because, having been registered for civilian use, the mandatory tachograph for registration was added, which currently shows the kilometers driven since it was nationalized; however, the official registration book reports the real kilometers of the vehicle. By reducing its payload slightly, it can also be de-classified to 35 quintals, but still registered to a private owner there is no tachograph obligation.
The vehicle was supplied new to the Police of Rome and has been used exclusively for transporting horses during official events.
Special Sirecome equipment, 2.5 Iveco engine, selectable 4x4 with low gears.
This vehicle represents an excellent opportunity both as a historic collector’s vehicle, thanks to its rarity and exceptional condition, and as a base for a special project. It can indeed be transformed into a expedition vehicle, expedition camper, or a support vehicle for sports teams or competitions.
Bodywork:
The vehicle has been stationary for a long time and, due to sun exposure, the paint has slightly faded. The previous owner had the cabin completely repainted and the cellule polished. The upper part above the cab requires a new polish, an intervention we can perform before delivery.
The chassis is in excellent condition, still in its original Iveco red color, solid and free of rust or defects. The door and windshield seals are new.
At the rear of the cellule there is an original loading ramp used for loading horses. The ramp can be easily removed to conveniently use the two traditional rear doors.
Internally the cellule is fully lined with 3 mm anti-slip aluminum sheets.
Interiors:
The interiors are completely original. The seat fabric is from the first equipment, without tears and the padding is in excellent condition. In the center there is a panel made of aluminum where the police radio was originally installed, removed at the time of sale.
The door panels are excellent and the ceiling still retains the original plastic covering.
Mechanical:
Engine, gearbox and differentials work very well. The engine starts at the first try even in winter, there are no oil leaks and all gears engage correctly. The 4x4 engagement and the low gears also operate regularly.
Before delivery, a general service check will be performed. The battery and six tires are new.
For those seeking higher performance, this model offers interesting upgrade possibilities: with a few modifications it is possible to install an engine from the same family boosted to 2.8 liters, with intercooler and modified pump, reaching up to about 160 HP. Another possible upgrade is fitting larger tires to further improve the vehicle’s appearance and off-road capabilities.
Documents:
The vehicle is in order with its documents. It can be sold in Italy with a regular transfer of ownership, or, for international buyers, it will be delivered with the original logbook stamped for export to the buyer’s destination country.
At the time of sale a new inspection will be performed. A copy of the front/back registration book is available, with stamps from the last two regular inspections.
The vehicle is located in Scorzè, in the province of Venice. It can be picked up at our headquarters or transport to Europe or America can be organized, at the buyer’s expense.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
