Description from the seller
Table Oil Lamp in 800 silver and worked glass - Italy, Milan - 20th century
Refined and important Italian-made table oil lamp, with structure in 800/1000 silver and finely worked transparent glass components.
The lamp features rich decorative work in a classical taste, with pierced elements, botanical and ornamental motifs, fully-rounded figures and finely chiselled details.
Particularly elaborate is the central silver body, characterized by a bulged and fluted surface, flanked by decorative figures. The structure rests on a shaped base supported by four ornamental feet.
The upper part is completed by an elegant glass shade/flue in worked glass, with a distinctive elongated shape and a flared upper opening. The glass shows softened geometric decorations and facets that enhance the luminosity of the whole.
There are also additional worked glass components and the original elements of the lamp system, as documented in the photographs.
On the metal framework the puncture mark “800” is clearly visible, confirming the 800/1000 silver fineness, and the Italian silversmith mark with the MI initials, referring to the province of Milan.
