A real rarity! This fascinating item is a buttonhole watch (also known as a boutonnière watch or in French "montre boutonnière"). It is a genuine miniature watch inserted inside a button-shaped case. It was invented by Paul Kirsch in 1895 and enjoyed great success.

How is it worn? The flat circular case on the back was slipped into and hooked inside the jacket’s buttonhole (the lapel) or in the cuff buttonhole of the shirt. Only the small dial protruded outward, allowing the owner to glance at the time without having to pull out a classic pocket watch.

Una vera rarità! Questo affascinante oggetto è un orologio ad ASOLA ( noto anche come orologio da occhiello o in francese " montre boutonniere". 
Trattasi di un vero e proprio orologio in MINIATURA inserito all'interno di una struttura a forma di bottone.
Fu inventato da Paul Kirsch nel 1895 ed ebbe molto successo.


Come si indossa? La cassa circolare piatta sul retro veniva infilata ed incastrata all'interno dell'asola della giacca ( il bavero /solapa) o nell'occhiello del polsino della camicia. Solo il piccolo quadrante sporgeva all'esterno e questo consentiva al proprietario di dare uno sguardo all'orario senza dover estrarre un classico orologio da taschino.
