WMF - WMF - Beaker (2) - Metal

A pair of Art Nouveau tall cups produced by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) of Germany, dating to approximately 1906. The cups are made of silver-plated brass and are decorated with raised spike motifs set within flowing organic lines characteristic of the Jugendstil period. WMF, founded in Geislingen in 1853, was one of the principal German manufacturers of silver-plated metalwork during the Art Nouveau era and applied the Jugendstil vocabulary consistently across its decorative ranges of this period. Each cup carries the WMF maker's mark stamped on the base. Condition is Good: there is slight surface wear to the silver plate, visible on close inspection at the high points of the decoration and the rim, consistent with over a century of age; no dents, structural losses, or significant pitting are present, and both cups are uniform in appearance.
