Description from the seller
Large French Louis XV / Rococo Carved and Giltwood Mirror Frame – 19th Century
Impressive large French mirror frame in carved and gilded wood, executed in the Louis XV / Rococo style.
The frame features an elaborate and highly decorative composition with scrolling acanthus leaves, rocaille motifs, floral garlands and large carved flowers, crowned by an openwork crest with elegant asymmetrical Rococo ornamentation. The richly carved decoration gives the piece considerable depth and presence.
The frame retains an aged and authentic appearance, with original-looking gilding, areas of wear, losses and visible traces of age, contributing to its antique character. The back reveals the carved wooden construction and the craftsmanship of the piece.
The mirror glass is currently not included, allowing the new owner to install a suitable mirror according to preference.
