Very good, rare terra-cotta Buddha amulet from Burma (Shan State) dating to the 18th century. Refined detailing. With traces of gold leaf and natural lacquer. The right hand is in Bhumisparsha mudra, the posture of the Earth-touching. Buddha sits on the stylized lotus throne.
On the head we see the Ushnisha, the bulbous protrusion as an expression of Buddha's wisdom, and above it the Ketumala, symbolizing Buddha's Enlightenment.
Amulet dimensions: height approx. 7.5 cm, max width 4.5 cm, max depth approx. 2.1 cm.
