Description from the seller
Pair of French brass vases, with an elegant tall and narrow form, a slightly tapered body, a stylized neck and an open mouth. They feature geometric and vegetal decoration inspired by Art Deco, with a central radial/floral motif, ornamental bands and dotted details. The bottom shows a hammered finish. On the bases appears the mark “Garanti Villedieu France”, related to the metalworking tradition of Villedieu-les-Poêles, in Normandy. There are pieces with this mark dated around 1930.
Material: Brass.
Technique: Handcrafted brass work, with hammered areas, stamped/ repoussé decoration and raised geometric elements.
Era: Probably the 1930s, with an approximate dating between the late 1920s and the early 1940s. French Art Deco style.
Measurements: 25 cm high × 7.5 cm in diameter, each vase.
Height: 25 cm.
Weight: 190 g each; 380 g for the pair.
Condition: Good overall condition, with patina and normal signs of age and use. They present small cracks in the upper conical area/neck, barely perceptible to the naked eye. They remain intact and maintain their decorative character.
