Description
For the admirer of refined Italian Mid-Century design: an elegant vintage wall lamp, made in smoked glass and chrome-plated metal, dating from around the 1960s–1970s. VECA wall lamp with three faceted smoked glass plates and chrome-plated round mounting screws — a construction that is very sturdy
This characteristic model is attributed on the international design market to Fontana Arte and is also linked by other sellers to the Italian glass and lighting manufacturer VECA. An identical piece is offered by Pamono as “attributed to Fontana Arte, Italy, 1960s.” An identical set is described by the French vintage-design dealer Brocante La Vitrine as VECA for Fontana Arte from the 1970s. The lamp itself shows, as far as visible, no factory mark, so the attribution is stated as such.
The design is particularly successful due to its simplicity. The lightly curved shade of dark smoked glass forms a beautiful contrast with the glossy chrome metal construction. Through the tinted glass the light source remains partly visible, creating a warm, atmospheric glow when in use.
