AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Walcheren (1690)

This impressive old map of Walcheren from 1690 (first edition in 1681) by Nicolaes Visscher shows the Zeeland island of Walcheren in detail. The map offers a splendid overview of the towns Middelburg, Vlissingen and Veere. You can see the historical polders, roads and dikes of the seventeenth century very clearly. Because Walcheren at that time was a strategic hub, the display is exceedingly accurate. The copper engraving is decorated with various sailing ships. This historical richness makes the old map by Visscher a top piece for any enthusiast of Zeeland.

This edition (without text on the back) was published only in an assembled atlas by Abraham Wolfgang, around 1690, published in Amsterdam.

Very good condition. Some light age browning and a few light spots. Otherwise excellent. Very sturdy paper and sharp print. Central fold, as published.
