Iron fetters - Ghana (No reserve price)

Description:

Wrought-iron shackles, composed of four restraint bracelets mounted on a crossbar. Each ring, hand-forged, shows artisanal craftsmanship characteristic of traditional West African workshops.

This type of object was used by local authorities for guarding and transporting prisoners or captives. It today constitutes an important testimony to the history of judicial systems and coercive practices in the region.

The set presents a beautiful patina of ancient oxidation, uniform, testifyi ng to its antiquity and long use. No visible restoration has been undertaken. The signs of wear are consistent with the object’s age and use.

The object will be carefully packaged and shipped with tracking and insurance.
