Description from the seller
GENERAL:
This 1989 Bentley Turbo R finished in black represented the pinnacle of luxury and high performance for the British marque in its era. Originally launched in 1985 to replace the Mulsanne Turbo, the Turbo R marked a fundamental milestone for Bentley by incorporating a drastically improved suspension with stiffer stabilizer bars and revised damping, transforming the chassis’ handling to manage the more than 300 HP of its legendary 6.75-liter V8 overhead‑cam motor. The “R” in its name pays homage to this focus on Roadholding. With 177,000 miles on the odometer, this unit stood unused for four years, exposed to the elements at the entrance of a restaurant as an advertising display. According to the seller, the vehicle was used by Diego Armando Maradona during his time in Barcelona, an anecdote that adds substantial historical interest and potential collector value to the unit.
BODYWORK AND PAINT:
The black paint shows damage from being parked outdoors and requires a complete repaint. Although recently polished to recover some shine, it needs a deep repair. The bodywork shows no signs of accidents and is generally sound, except for the rear fenders and the base of the rear windscreen, where there are rust bubbles beneath the paint. The undercarriage is in very good condition, with no structural rust, and an extensive photo dossier on a lift is available for verification.
MECHANICAL:
The engine and transmission work perfectly. The vehicle starts correctly both when cold and hot, offering a very smooth drive combined with strong power, while the transmission shifts fluidly. Various maintenance jobs have just been carried out, supported by invoices. There is a slight oil seepage around the fuel filler cap.
INTERIOR:
The cabin retains the original white leather with wear appropriate to its age and mileage. It lacks the radio unit, and some wood trim mouldings have weather-related damage that requires repair. Currently, the electric seats and the side mirrors do not work, while all dashboard instruments operate correctly.
DOCUMENTATION:
The vehicle has just passed the ITV (mandatory vehicle inspection) without defects and is currently in the process of being catalogued as a historic vehicle. Invoices for recent maintenance are attached.
COLLECTION:
The car is located in Madrid, Spain. If it is won at auction, 20 days of free storage are offered.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
