Description from the seller
GENERAL:
Spartan - Roadster - 1978. Odometer reading: approximately 56,000 miles. The Spartan Roadster is a British kit car sports car, originally produced by Spartan Cars in Pinxton, Derbyshire. Founded by Jim Cowley in 1973, the company designed this model as an affordable, lightweight, fun alternative inspired by the classic lines of 1930s sports cars and the Lotus Seven concept. Built on a tubular chassis with lightweight bodywork, this roadster stands out for its Ford-derived mechanicals (such as from the Triumph Herald or the Ford Cortina), which ensures great mechanical simplicity, low maintenance costs, and excellent availability of spares. With its convertible configuration and light weight, it offers agile driving and pure period sensations, today a very rare and exclusive collector’s car. The car is located in Madrid, Spain.
CARBODY AND PAINT:
The bodywork is in good condition and there is no rust. It has been used in numerous rallies, so it retains the advertising decals. The paint shows good gloss with the logical signs of age and is finished in a two-tone scheme in Silver Gray and Burgundy that gives it a very sporty look, complemented by chrome wheels very much of the era. The undercarriage is in good condition, free of corrosion, on a very sound chassis.
MECHANICS:
A carburetor and fuel tank cleaning have just been performed due to a period of inactivity in which it did not regulate correctly. Currently the engine starts well both cold and hot, sounds very good and offers good response. It is equipped with a reliable Ford engine paired to a five-speed gearbox that engages smoothly. It has a recently passed MOT (ITV) and valid until 2029 without issues, ready to drive with total reliability.
INTERIOR:
Four-seat interior configuration (2+2) equipped with four seat belts to drive safely on any road. The upholstery is in good used condition, showing only minimal age-related defects visible in the photos.
DOCUMENTATION:
ITV valid and recently passed, valid until 2029 without issues.
PICKUP / DELIVERY:
Located in Madrid, Spain. If it is awarded, there is a 20-day storage period available.
OTHER INFORMATION:
Vehicle suitable for all kinds of use and journeys thanks to the simplicity and reliability of its Ford mechanicals.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
