Ordos Bronze Plaque with Animal Motif - Art of the Steppes
A pierced openwork cast bronze plaque featuring a wolf head, vertically pierced for hanging. The Ordos culture flourished during the Bronze Age and early Iron Age in what is now Inner Mongolia and is known for its nomadic culture and its rich traditions of decorative metalwork, as embodied in this piece. The Ordos culture is the easternmost known manifestation of Scythian culture.
Northeast China, Ordos culture, Scythian people, around the 6th/2nd century BCE
Dimensions: Height 2.7 cm - Width 1.7 cm - Condition: excellent.
Provenance information: France, Galerie P.S.A.
