Description from the seller
CANON FTb QL + FD 50mm f/1.4 S.S.C., tested and working.
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
The Canon FTb QL (1971) is a robust, all-mechanical 35mm SLR from Canon's FD-mount era, with TTL centre-weighted metering and Canon's Quick Loading (QL) system for fast, reliable film loading. A hugely popular enthusiast camera of the early 1970s, it accepts both FD and older FL lenses. Offered here with the Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 S.S.C., the Super Spectra Coated version of Canon's fast standard lens, well regarded for its rendering in low light and its resistance to flare.
Important — please read carefully:
Minor haze at the edge of the front lens element and a faint prism trace in the viewfinder. Please review the photos and consider this before bidding.
Condition: Used — Good
Pre-owned, heavy signs of use, or minor optical flaws
Serial Number
Please check the photo.
Appearance
Scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details.
Optical Condition
Finder: Cleaned internally — the deteriorated part of the prism has been removed; a faint trace remains but does not interfere with viewing.
Lens / Sensor: Slight haze and dust near the edge of the front element of the FD 50mm f/1.4 S.S.C.; otherwise clear. See photos.
Functional
The camera operates properly — shutter, film transport and meter all work. The meter reads about +1.6 EV at EV12 and close to accurate (+0.8 EV) at EV15. The shutter is fully mechanical; a battery is needed only for the meter.
The light seals have been replaced and the viewfinder cleaned internally. The lens focuses smoothly and the aperture blades are clean.
Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 1.6 OVER / EV15: 0.8 OVER
Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself.
Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Viewfinder cleaned internally
- Light seals (foam) replaced
Known Issues
1. Slight haze and dust near the edge of the front lens element — minimal effect in normal use.
2. A faint trace of prism deterioration remains in the viewfinder after cleaning; it does not affect the photographs.
Bundled Items
Only what you can see in the pictures will be included in the package.
