Three‑piece Napoleon III French clock set in brass with blue enamel details, featuring a mechanical eight‑day movement with half‑hour striking and a central pendulum clock flanked by two matching candelabra dating to circa 1850–1900.
Description from the seller
Beautifully decorated three-piece Napoleon III pendule set consisting of a central pendulum clock with two matching candelabras.
Richly executed in gilded bronze with blue enameled elements, adorned with lavish ornamentation. The pendule features a wonderful round dial with Roman numerals, surrounded by a richly decorated gilded case with floral motifs, pearl borders and garlands. The whole is crowned by an urn-shaped ornament with graceful handles and a decorative knob. This ornament has been restored in the past.
The two matching candelabras are designed with each having candle arms, generously supplied with scrollwork, floral ornaments and cobalt-blue medallions. The ensemble has a distinctly French Louis Seize appearance.
The timepiece bears the signature Hersant 1869 Paris. Hersant was known in Paris as the official successor of the clockmaker Chatelain (often stamped as "Hersant successeur de Chatelain Paris"). Hersant produced high-quality movements for luxury interior clocks. The clock also bears a S. Marti stamp, bronze medal.
Dimensions of the candelabras: H 30 cm. 19.5 x 7.5 cm.
The lot will be carefully packed and sent by registered mail. Photos complete this description.
