Rolls-Royce wooden transport crate, 48 cm wide and 54 cm high, original/official with multiple stamped double-R emblems, a surviving FIAT Turin destination label, and British export markings; dating to the 1950s–1970s, in aged industrial condition, contents not included.
Description from the seller
An unusual vintage Rolls-Royce wooden shipping crate displaying multiple original double-R logos, period transport markings and a surviving paper destination label.
The crate is constructed from solid timber boards reinforced by substantial wooden battens and traditional nailed assembly. Rolls-Royce emblems are stamped directly onto the wood, together with faded British export markings, handwritten references and other signs associated with its former industrial use.
Of particular interest is the original paper label, which appears to reference FIAT, a division or department in Turin and an address on Via Nizza, Italy. This suggests that the crate may once have transported a Rolls-Royce component or piece of technical equipment from Britain to Italy. However, its original contents and complete shipping history are unknown.
Based on its construction, typography and aged paper label, the crate is believed to date from approximately the 1950s–1970s. The exact year cannot be confirmed.
The crate remains in aged industrial condition, with scratches, stains, dents, nail marks, faded writing, surface wear and deterioration to portions of the original packing material. The paper label is stained and incomplete but remains attached. These signs of use form an important part of the crate’s character and history. Please inspect all photographs carefully for an accurate impression of its condition.
