Pair of vintage Polish optometric boards – 1970s/1980s – aluminum and glass
Description
Pair of vintage optometric boards of Polish origin, used for checking visual acuity.
The boards feature figurative symbols of various sizes, including ducks, horses, airplanes, circles, crosses, stars, trees and other graphic elements. One of the two bears the Polish phrases:
* “Odległość w m” – distance in meters
* “Ostrość wzroku” – visual acuity
The graphics are typical of sight-testing charts intended also for children or people not accustomed to reading letters.
Both are mounted in metal/aluminum frames, with a transparent front protection and a rigid back panel. On the back there is a mounting system for wall fixing.
Estimated period: 1970s–1980s
Country of origin: Poland
Materials: aluminum/metal, glass or transparent material, cardboard/rigid panel
Dimensions of each board: approximately 50.5 × 30.5 × 1.5 cm.
Overall condition good, consistent with age. There are small signs, slight deformations and traces of use on the metal frame, visible in the photographs. The inner graphics are well preserved.
Interesting objects both as vintage medical instruments and as decorative elements for interiors, medical offices, optics, scientific collections or industrial-style environments.
The two boards are sold together as a single lot.
