Having become particularly popular in the Italian Renaissance, associated with the figure of Girolamo Savonarola.
Shaped backrest, carved with Renaissance motifs and a central crest/decorative element (in this case with a fleur-de-lis).
The arms end with carved spherical finials.

Solid wood Savonarola-style armchair with a shaped Renaissance-carved back and central lily crest, carved spherical finials on the arms, easily foldable, dating to ca. 1950–1960, 88 cm high, 67 cm wide, 52 cm deep, seating height 49 cm, in good used condition with minor age-related marks, made in Italy.
