Vintage Hungarian industrial enamel sign “ÜZEMZÁR!” in white enamelled steel with a red-yellow-blue emblem, measuring 30 cm by 60 cm and dating from 2000–2010, in good condition with minor signs of age and staining.
Description from the seller
Vintage Hungarian industrial enamel sign – “ÜZEMZÁR!”
Distinctive and authentic 20th-century Hungarian industrial enamel sign with the clear text “ÜZEMZÁR!”. The sign is made of white enamelled steel and features a striking red-yellow-blue emblem and heavy, industrial lettering.
The Hungarian term “üzemzár” has a technical meaning and refers to the locking, securing, or putting an installation out of service. It is therefore not a general “closed” sign, but a designation that fits within an industrial or technical setting.
Based on its design, material, typography, and text, the sign is likely from a Hungarian industrial environment, such as a machine factory, power plant, mine/industrial complex, gas or heat company, or another technical installation.
The emblem present is characteristic, but the specific factory or company to which the logo belonged could not be determined with sufficient certainty at this time. The sign is therefore explicitly not attributed to Láng Gépgyár, Csepel, or any other particular factory.
Features
- Original vintage industrial sign
- Hungarian text: ÜZEMZÁR!
- White enamelled steel
- Red/yellow/blue industrial emblem
- Four mounting holes
- Robust industrial typography
- Authentic age and signs of use
- Interesting item for collectors of industrial history, vintage enamel signs, and Hungarian memorabilia
A characterful and decorative industrial object with an interesting, but not yet fully identified, provenance.
